Age of Vice: A Novel
- Deepti Kapoor
New Delhi, 3a.m. A speeding Mercedes jumps the check and in the blink of an eye, five people are dead. It’s a rich man’s auto, but when the dust settles there's no rich man at each, just a shell-shocked menial who can not explain the strange series of events that led to this crime. Nor can he prevision the dark drama that's about to unfold.
adroitly shifting through time and perspective in contemporary India, Age of Vice is an epic, action- packed story propelled by the attractive wealth, astounding corruption, and murderous violence of the Wadia family-- loved by some, despised by others, stressed by all.
In the shadow of lavish estates, extravagant parties, raptorial business deals and calculated political influence, three lives come dangerously intertwined Ajay is the vigilant menial, born into poverty, who rises through the family’s species. Sunny is the playboy heir at law who dreams of overtopping his father, whatever the cost. And Neda is the curious intelligencer caught between morality and desire. Against a broad plot fueled by loss, pleasure, rapacity, hankering, violence and vengeance, will these characters ’ connections come a path to escape, or a detector of farther destruction?
