Sam: A Novel

Sam is seven times old and living in Beverly, Massachusetts. She adores her father, though he is n’t around much. Her mama struggles to make ends meet, and noway fails to remind Sam that if she studies hard and acts responsibly, majority will be easier more secure and comfortable.She does n’t fit in at academy, where the other girls have the right shade of blue jeans and do n’t question the rules. She does n’t watch about jeans or rules. All she wants to climb. Hanging from the loftiest branches of the altitudinous trees, spanning the side of a structure, Sam feels free.

As a teenager, Sam begins to misdoubt herself. She yearns to be noticed, indeed as she wants to vanish. When her climbing trainer takes an interest in her, his attention is more complicated than she anticipated. She resents her father’s erratic geste, but she grieves after he’s gone. And she resists her mama ’s attempts to plan for her future, indeed as that future draws near.
